GENERAL
RALLY: Come out and show your school pride on September 5th. Canyon’s first RALLY is during brunch on Friday in the Main Gym. Support your class by wearing your class color: Seniors-Black, Juniors-Green, Sophomores-White and Freshman-Yellow.
CANYON FOOTBALL GAMES: A reminder to students that once you enter the football game and leave—YOU MAY NOT RE-ENTER! If you need a sweater, blanket etc., remember to bring it in with you when you arrive. Also, skateboards and scooters are NOT allowed in the stadium parking lot—DO NOT BRING THEM WITH YOU!!! Since this is a school-sponsored event, the Canyon High Dress Code will be strictly enforced. ANY inappropriate attire (clothing, accessories, or headgear) will result in entrance refusal and possible removal if non=compliant.
SAT PREPARATION: Kaplan Test Prep is starting a class at Golden Valley this Saturday, 9/6.There are 12 sessions on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Canyon students will be given a reduced price. Flyers available in Counseling office.
OPEN PERIOD/COC/ROTC STICKERS: If you did not get your sticker on your ID card on the designated dates at the beginning of the semester, you must turn your ID card in to Mrs. Nelson in the AP Office before 8:00 a.m. for it to be ready for you to pick up by lunch. It will not be done while you wait, but will be available for you to pick up that same day at lunch.
COC CLASSES: Did you take a class at COC during the summer or even last spring? It is the student's responsibility to request that the transcript from COC is sent to Canyon's Registrar. You can order them online from COC's website today!
WRITER’S WORKSHOP: Have you had problems writing essays in the past? Are you having problems writing them now? Do you need help writing that college essay? If you answered yes to any of these questions, there is a place you can get help. Come to Writer's Workshop with Mr. Fannon in C-1 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before school and at lunch for all your writing and English needs.
BEACH BUM DAY: This Thursday, September 4 is Beach Bum Day! Come to school dressed in your favorite beach day clothes and get ready for fun beach games on the Outdoor Stage! Of course SCHOOL DRESS CODE still applies!!!
KEY CLUB EXTRA HOURS: Key clubbers, if you need extra hours, there is a canned food drive. Bring 5 cans for one-hour credit, there is a three-hour max. Please bring all cans to V-1.
ADULT AND YOUTH ASB CARDS ARE HERE!!!!! Come pick up your parents ASB cards in the ASB office, J-7
ATTENTION: OFL (Opportunities for Learning) will NOT be open for winter or spring sessions, so if you were counting on earning credits at OFL, please see your counselor ASAP to plan another way to make up credits.
OPERATION US: Are you interested in bettering your community? Do you appreciate diversity, like working with elementary school students, leading small group discussions and/or being on stage? Operation US is a community service club at Canyon that conducts workshops to promote respect, tolerance and diversity at local elementary schools. We may even go to your old elementary school! If you would like to participate, or learn more about Operation US, please come to a meeting at lunch in E3 TODAY or see Ms. Mast or Mr. Ballard for details. Everyone is welcome.
BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP: Come to the Book Discussion Meeting this Friday at lunch in H1. Bring your copy of Montana 1948. Please read to page 35. Bring your lunch and we'll see you in H1.
ALL STUDENTS: If you have not had an ID card made for this year please come to the textbook center during brunch or lunch to have one made. Remember all students must have an ID card.
ATTENTION ALL CSF MEMBERS: or anyone interested in joining the California Scholarship Federation. Come to room C-8 all this week to pick up your paperwork. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Freifeld in room C-8. Applications will be due by TODAY.
REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS: Textbook damage forms are due back to the textbook center by Sept. 5th. If you have lost the form you received at registration come to the textbook center to get another.
MEETINGS
Anyone interested in the ANIME club, come to room G-220 at lunch today, Wednesday Sept. 3. We have lots of fun activities planned for this year, so it's a great time to get involved! Again it's ANIME club at lunch in G-220. See you there!"
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY: Come to C7 at lunch TODAY to find out who the new cabinet members are. Also, if you are interested in joining, please stop by for information!

SPORTS
BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS: Tryouts are at lunch on the football field. Tryouts will run all week—September 2-5. Questions—see Coach Savage in room F-1.
