GENERAL
MINIMUM DAY: All Canyon students are reminded that when we have minimum day, they may NOT visit other campuses, including Sierra Vista. Other schools are in full day session and it is a trespassing violation to be on their campus while their school is in session. Avoid disciplinary action and a trespassing ticket! Do not visit other schools when Canyon has a minimum day!
ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS: Are you looking to be more involved on campus? If so, the Junior Class Committee is looking for you! We will be having a meeting this Thursday, August 28 at lunch in J-1. We will be discussing homecoming skit, prom, fundraising and class spirit. Bring $2 for pizza. All Juniors welcome.
9th & 10th graders- Check your schedules! You should all have 6 classes, which must include English, science and math, and 10th graders should also have Mod. Civ. If you don't have these academic classes, please see your counselor right away!
BOOK DISCUSSION CLUB: The first book we will be reading this year is Montana 1948 by Larry Watson. Your cost, if you order through Mrs. Limbaugh this week, is $12.10. Please see Mrs. Limbaugh in the library this week to place your order. We will not meet this week since we don't have the new book.
GREEN AND GOLD NIGHT: Canyon’s Green and Gold night is August 30th –from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Come out and support your Canyon Cowboy football team—Frosh, JV and Varsity. See you there.
SAT PREP CLASSES-- It's not too late to sign up for the Revolution Prep SAT classes offered right here on Canyon's campus. Your SAT score is guaranteed to go up 200 points! Class starts this Thursday so don't wait! Visit revolutionprep.com or stop by E5 to see Ms. Jones for more information.
ALL STUDENTS: If you have not had an ID card made for this year please come to the textbook center during brunch or lunch to have one made. Remember all students must have an ID card.
ATTENTION ALL CSF MEMBERS: or anyone interested in joining the California Scholarship Federation. Come to room C-8 all this week to pick up your paperwork. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Freifeld in room C-8. Applications will be due by Wednesday, September 3rd.
ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE AN OPEN PERIOD, ROTC or a COC CLASS: You will need to have an open sticker placed on your ID to leave campus if you have an abbreviated schedule. Please leave your ID with the campus supervisor as you leave campus using the following guidelines. The next day, you will need to pick up your ID on the south side of the new administration building (just outside the Counseling entrance) during brunch or lunch. Remember, you must have your ID card with you while at school every day as well as during school activities!

REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS: Textbook damage forms are due back to the textbook center by Sept. 5th. If you have lost the form you received at registration come to the textbook center to get another.
CAREER CENTER NEWS
MEDICAL CAREERS SEMINAR: Are you interested in exploring a career in the medical field? Representatives from the Radiology Department, Therapy Department and Operating Room at Henry Mayo will discuss topics such as educational requirements, job duties, job outlooks and salary ranges on Thurs., 9/11 at 9:20 in the Library. Students in all grade levels are invited to attend! Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.
UC MERCED VISITATION: Juniors and seniors are invited to our first college visitation of the year on Friday, 9/5 at 10:35 in the Career Center. Meet with an admissions representative from UC Merced and learn about programs, campus life, admissions and more! Pick up permission slips in the Career Center.
MEETINGS
COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL: There is a meeting on Thursday, August 28 at lunch in room G206. We have some new things to discuss and a new letter from our sponsored child.
SPORTS
BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS: Tryouts are at lunch on the football field. Tryouts will run that entire week and the following week—September 2-5. Questions—see Coach Savage in room F-1.
SENIORS
LISTEN UP SENIORS: We are raffling off ten more personalized parking spots. Come by the ASB office before school, brunch, and lunch from Wed 8-27 to Friday 8-29 to pick up a free raffle ticket. The winners will be announced on Tuesday 9-2. The winners will be required to show proof of a parking permit, pay $25 for the spot, and show their original ticket.
SENIORS: Please schedule your portraits with O'Connor Photography ASAP (661-257-3838). Portraits taken after September may not be included in the yearbook.
