  CANYON HIGH SCHOOL

GENERAL

 

TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY AUGUST 27, IS OUR FIRST LATE START WEDNESDAY OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.  IF YOU NORMALLY START SCHOOL AT 7:00 am YOUR START TIME WILL BE 8:49 am.  IF YOU NORMALLY START SCHOOL AT 8:00 am YOUR START TIME WILL BE 9:30 am.

 

GOOD MORNING STUDENTS:  Last year the visitors from WASC commented that ours was the cleanest campus they had ever seen.  We need your help to maintain such a great reputation!  Please throw your trash in trash cans and your recyclable bottles in the blue recycle bins.  Thank you!

JUNIORS AND SENIORS: You can still sign up for the 1st period Graphic Design Class. Just check with your counselor. Do it today.

 

CANYON FOOTBALL GAMES:  A reminder to students that once you enter the football game and leave-YOU MAY NOT RE-ENTER.  If you need a sweater, blanket etc., remember to bring it in with you when you arrive.  Footballs, Skateboards, and Scooters are NOT allowed in the stadium or parking lot—DO NOT BRING THEM WITH YOU!!!  Noisemakers are not allowed per CIF regulations and that using Noisemakers can result in a forfeit of the game.  ANY inappropriate attire (clothing, accessories, headgear or body paint) will result in entrance refusal and possible removal if non-compliant. 

 

NO ONE IS ALLOWED ON THE FIELD AT THE END OF THE GAME

 

REMINDER: TEXTBOOK DAMAGE WAIVER FORMS ARE DUE BY SEPT 5TH.  DROP IT OFF IN THE BLUE BIN AT THE LIBRARY.

 

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  If you are not currently enrolled in an ROP Class, there are still a few classes available.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office and sign up now!

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.

 

 

HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY:  Are you 17 or older?  Would you like an opportunity to work in the Hospitality Industry?  If your answers are yes, you should consider enrolling in the Hotel/Restaurant Management class.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP/Career Office for more information.

 

DRESS CODE AT CANYON:  Reminders about the dress code at Canyon---Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through, backless, swim suit tops and strapless shirts are NOT ALLOWED!!  Short shorts are also NOT ALLOWED!!  Gang style, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed.  T-shirts with Graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence, or sexual activities are prohibited!

 

CSF – Bring your complete application for CSF to the library this week during lunch only. CSF applicants are expected to strictly adhere to all deadlines.

ARE YOU TAKING THE SAT SOON?  Are you interested in a SAT review?  If so, Canyon High is offering a SAT review for only $95!  These type of classes usually cost a few hundred dollars.  Tier One, one of the largest SAT prep companies in Southern California, has once again offered to hold prep classes for college bound Canyon Cowboys.  Please visit the counseling office for more information.

 

TRYOUTS

 

ATTENTION BOYS SOCCER PLAYERS: Tryouts will be held August 26th, 27th and 28th.  From 3:30 to 5:30 at Sierra Vista.  Any player interested in playing for Canyon this year needs to attend all four days of tryouts.  Scheduling conflicts need to be worked out with Coach Benavidez prior to tryouts. MEETINGS

 

HEY COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS!  If you ride and compete on horseback and you are interested in competing for Canyon, come to an informational meeting in T-1 at lunch TODAY.  Learn about the Equestrian Team here at Canyon and ride for your school!

 

HEY KEY CLUBBERS!  We are having our first official meeting this Thursday at lunch in room S-4.  New members are always welcome!

LATINO DANCE CLUB-Club Latino de Baile: Are you interested in showing your pride on Mexican traditional dances, or would you simply like to learn how to dance Latino music, such as cumbia, salsa, and merengue? Come and join us weekly on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in room AA1. Let's have some fun! Experience is not required. Hope to see you there!   

 

MATH RULES!!  If you are interested in joining the Math Honor Society there will be a MANDATORY informational meeting at lunch in Mrs. Denny's room G216 TODAY.  Come see how fun math can be!!
