  CANYON HIGH SCHOOL

GENERAL

 

HEALTH OFFICE:  When you are ill, you must get a pass from your teacher to come up to the Health Office.  It is there that contact will be made with your parents/guardians to arrange for you to go home.  Do not call or text your parents or guardians from the classroom expecting to be summoned to the Health Office.

 

DRESS CODE AT CANYON:  Reminders about the dress code at Canyon---Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through, backless, swim suit tops and strapless shirts are NOT ALLOWED!!  Short shorts are also NOT ALLOWED!!  Gang style, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed.  T-shirts with Graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence, or sexual activities are prohibited!

 

CSF – Bring your complete application for CSF to the library this week during lunch only. CSF applicants are expected to strictly adhere to all deadlines.

Volunteer hours sheet (available online on the library’s website)

$15 dues (If paying by check, make it out to Canyon ASB)

HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY:  Are you 17 or older?  Would you like an opportunity to work in the Hospitality Industry?  If your answers are yes, you should consider enrolling in the Hotel/Restaurant Management class.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP/Career Office for more information.

 

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS:  If you are not currently enrolled in an ROP Class, there are still a few classes available.  See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office and sign up now!

MATH RULES!!  If you are interested in joining the Math Honor Society there will be a MANDATORY informational meeting at lunch in Mrs. Denny's room G216 on Tuesday August 26th.  Come see how fun math can be!!

 

REMINDER: TEXTBOOK DAMAGE WAIVER FORMS ARE DUE BY SEPT 5TH.  DROP IT OFF IN THE BLUE BIN AT THE LIBRARY.

 

ARE YOU TAKING THE SAT SOON?  Are you interested in a SAT review?  If so, Canyon High is offering a SAT review for only $95!  These type of classes usually cost a few hundred dollars.  Tier One, one of the largest SAT prep companies in Southern California, has once again offered to hold prep classes for college bound Canyon Cowboys.  Please visit the counseling office for more information.

 

TRYOUTS

 

ATTENTION BOYS SOCCER PLAYERS: Tryouts will be held August 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th.  From 3:30 to 5:30 at Sierra Vista.  Any player interested in playing for Canyon this year needs to attend all four days of tryouts.  Scheduling conflicts need to be worked out with Coach Benavidez prior to tryouts. Coach Benavidez can be found contacted via email at [email protected].

 

MEETINGS

 

OPERATION US: Join us for our first meeting of the year at lunch in E3 on Monday Aug. 25th! We go to local elementary schools to teach 6th graders about diversity, acceptance, bullying prevention and sensitivity towards others. Have fun, help people and make new friends. All are welcome. See Ms. Mast in E3 if you have any questions. 

 

HEY COWBOYS AND COWGIRLS!  If you ride and compete on horseback and you are interested in competing for Canyon, come to an informational meeting in T-1 at lunch on Tues.  Learn about the Equestrian Team here at Canyon and ride for your school!

If you were a DFYIT member last year, either at Canyon or at your junior high school, please join us for a quick DFYIT meeting in Room A-3 Tuesday, August 26, at lunch - grab your lunch and come join us!

 

LATINO DANCE CLUB-Club Latino de Baile: Are you interested in showing your pride on Mexican traditional dances, or would you simply like to learn how to dance Latino music, such as cumbia, salsa, and merengue? Come and join us weekly on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in room AA1. Let's have some fun! Experience is not required. Hope to see you there!
