Boy's Soccer
Gentlemen,
On behalf of the coaching staff, I would like to thank you for coming out during the course of the week and participate in tryouts for Canyon Boys Soccer program. You showed the coaching staff a passion for the game along with a great work ethic. You should all be proud in the way you performed throughout the week.
As I mentioned, if your name should not appear on a roster, don’t let that discourage you from continuing to strive for your dream or goal of playing high school soccer. Instead continue to work to improve individual skills, play soccer on an outside team and make plans to join us at summer camp next June.
As a coaching staff we believe that we have constructed three extremely competitive teams. Although the high school soccer season is approximately four months away, the preparation for the season starts now. Players will meet Monday, August 21 for 7th period class at Canyon High School (Stadium). Class will begin at 6:30 pm. We will discuss next steps as we prepare for the upcoming high school season which includes clearance and Code of Conduct.
Players you need to be prepared for training, which means have all necessary soccer equipment including cleats, shin guards and running shoes. Recommend that you include a bottle of water in your soccer bag. All equipment needs to be brought daily.
Any issues with attending on Monday, players need to contact Coach Benavidez directly. For those players currently involved in fall sports send Coach Benavidez an email in order to receive program updates.
Additionally there will be a Player Registration / Parent Informational Meeting at the end of August / beginning of September on the campus of Canyon High School. Once the date and location have been confirmed Program Information Packets will be distributed to all players for completion prior to the meeting.
For those players that did not get selected to be a part of the soccer squad for this season, continue to strive to accomplish your goals and achieve your dreams. If you want to participate in high school athletics, consider joining the Canyon Cross Country program. It will help improve your fitness level for the game of soccer.
Again thank you to everyone that participated in tryouts this past week and congratulations to those that comprise the 2023 - 2024 Canyon Boys Soccer program.
