ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A PART OF THE AMAZING CANYON YEARBOOK STAFF FOR 2016? Yearbook is currently looking to this year's freshman and sophomores to apply. We are looking for students interested in journalism, photography and design to be a part of our team. Please get an application in the counseling office or from Mr. McCann in the T-building. Applications are due May 1st.

NISSAN CAR GIVEAWAY – Juniors and Seniors – We are only a week away from finding out which Hart District student will be driving away in a new 2015 Nissan Versa! Will it be you?? Please make sure you have filled out the registration form (available online or in the office) before you come to the event next Tuesday, April 28, at 5 p.m. at the COC football stadium. You'll be checking in at the Canyon High table before entering the stadium. Thousands of dollars in prizes will be given away in many prize drawings, our drum line will be performing, and a Canyon High School student will be recognized for the Nissan Service Award. You won't want to miss this!! See Mrs. Pennay in the AP office for any questions you may have.

SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE ONLINE:  Canyon High School’s summer school will be on the Golden Valley High School campus this year.  Summer school registration forms are now available on Canyon’s website.  Please go to www.canyonhighcowboys.org. Under News and Announcements, click on Summer School 2015 and print out the registration packet. Completed forms need to be returned to the summer school basket in the front office reception area at Canyon.

Career Technical Education (CTE) & ROP courses offer students career pathways and career exploration leading to industry certification and a foundation to continue on to post secondary career education.  ROP has a variety of courses in healthcare, law and forensics, engineering and advanced technologies, business, education, culinary, graphic design and many more. Whether you plan on pursuing an education at a four year university, a community college or specific technical training, Career Technical Education (CTE/ROP) has something for you. See Mrs. Gaines in the ROP/CTE Office located in the counseling department to take advantage of the course offerings.

ON THURSDAY, APRIL 30th the Counseling Department will take a field trip to the National College Fair in Pasadena.  There will be over 300 colleges attending!  This trip is open to sophomores with a GPA of 2.5 and above. Unfortunately, juniors are testing on that day so they won't be able to attend.  However, the fair will repeat in the evening.  Please consider attending at night from 6:00-9:00 pm.

College fairs are an easy way for you to learn about and compare a variety of colleges all in one day.  You get to meet representatives from the colleges, and more importantly, they get to meet you!  Colleges keep track of your visits to their campus, your requests for information, or visits to their booths at the college fair.  They are more likely to accept a student that has shown a real interest in their school.

If you are interested in attending the fair, please pick up a field trip form from Mrs. Hettema, the counseling secretary.  To pay for the bus, we are requesting a $10 donation fee, but entrance into the college Fair is FREE!

MATH TUTORING with Mrs. Denny is CANCELED for the next two weeks.  See you May 7th for math tutoring.  Remember tutoring goes from 2:30 until 4 p.m.

ATTENTION ATHLETES --who want to participate in the CHS summer camps.  Registration packets are now available in the ASB office and the front office.  Please complete ASAP if you want to participate.

AP STUDENTS – If you have purchased an AP Test you must attend a pre administration meeting to complete essential testing paperwork. You only need to attend ONE session.  Please come by the Q Theater at the very beginning of lunch on Wednesday, April 22nd.  If you do not attend one of these sessions, you will be unable to take your AP test, and your money will not be refunded.  Don’t forget to bring a number 2 pencil.

The Career Technical Education Department at College of the Canyons is offering a “Careers-on-the-Go” workshop on Welding Technology Wednesday, April 22, 2015 here at our Valencia Campus, Mentry Hall room 343 from 6:00-7:30.

ATTENTION, THE BLOOD DRIVE IS BACK!  This will be the last blood drive of the year.  Donate blood to the UCLA medical center and get a free movie ticket and food.  Save a life with your donation.  Sign up during brunch and lunch in Mr. Cuny's room--C-6.
