GENERAL

 

STICKER I.D.’S:  Students who have open periods must have an ID sticker to leave campus.  Students may obtain their stickers in the SRC and H-1 during brunch and lunch only.  We will have multiple staff to help on Wednesday, and we encourage you to get your stickers asap.  You must get your stickers by February 9th.  We will not issue any more stickers to students to be off campus after February 9th.

 

SENIORS please remind your parents that the 2015 yearbook tribute ads are due this week.  Information about prices and submitting photos can be found at  www.canyonyearbook.com.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for seniors, so don't let your parents miss out.

 

PARKING PERMITS:  Attention Juniors and Seniors!  Parking Permits will are on sale now.  All the paperwork needs to be completed before purchase.

 

ROP:  Students taking an ROP class need to stop by the ROP office to pick up your pre-enrollment forms.  ROP classes started on Tuesday, January 20th.

 

JAZZ/POP INFORMATIONAL MEETING -- If you did not attend the informational meeting about Jazz/Pop, please see Mrs. Purdy in the A Lecture Hall.  Anyone in the whole school is eligible to participate in Jazz/Pop.

 

WINTER FORMAL:  Date—January 24, 2015 – this Saturday!   Where—Valencia Hyatt----7-11 pm. 

 

DRESS CODE:  Students are reminded about the dress code at Canyon High School.  Crop tops, halter tops, low cut blouses, see-through or backless shirts and swim suit tops are NOT ALLOWED!  Also, gang styles, accessories, symbols and clothing modifications are not allowed.  T-shirts with graphics which depict anti-social behavior, controlled substances, alcohol beverages, violence or sexual activities are prohibited.

 

PSAT TEST RESULTS ARE HERE!  You may pick up your PSAT test results today during brunch or lunch in the Counseling Office.  See Mrs. Hettema for your test results and test booklet.

 


SENIORS:  The Santa Clarita Emblem Club #459 will award four $800 scholarships.  Two of the scholarships will be awarded to a family member of an Emblem Club or Santa Clarita Elks #2379 member – the other two are open to all seniors.  The application is available to you in the Counseling Office.  Scholarship application must be postmarked on or before February 15, 2015.

 

Meetings

 

SPECIAL OLYMPICS:  There is an exciting new opportunity to help those in need and earn community service hours.  The Special Olympics Club is starting up and looking for new members!  Come join our club and help special needs children and adults learn and participate in sports (such as tennis, volleyball, swimming and more!).  Become a volunteer at practices and events for this year’s International Special Olympics.   Members can even become coaches in individual sports and be more involved in this amazing worldwide organization!  Meetings take place at lunchtime and continue every other Tuesday in Room E-4.   Please come out and support the Special Olympics Club.

 

LATINO DANCE CLUB-CLUB LATINO DE BAILE: Are you interested in showing your pride on Mexican traditional dances, or would you simply like to learn how to dance Latino music, such as cumbia, bachata, and merengue?  Come and join us weekly at lunchtime on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in room AA1.  Let's have some fun!  Experience is not required.  Hope to see you there!

 

BOOK CLUB MEMBERS:  Our next meeting is scheduled for January 30th.  Please finish Ready Player One by Jan. 30th.  Of course, new readers are always welcome!!  Join today.  Peace out!!  See you reading!! 

 

ATTENTION KEY CLUB MEMBERS!  We will have a general meeting today at lunch in the Q Theater.  Attendance will be taken.

 

CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION.  It’s that time again!  All students must re-apply to California Scholarship Federation.  This semester, CSF membership drive is going digital!  All students who believe they are eligible should join the CSF Google Classroom using code 8tvpvl (it is case sensitive).  This is how you will submit your membership application.  All applications are due by tomorrow, Friday, January 23rd.  You can go to the CSF page on the library website to start the registration process.  If you have questions, see Mrs. Hermelin in the library.

 

OPERATION US:  Permission slips are past due.  Please bring them to E-3 as soon as possible!

 


 

SCIENCE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY.  SNHS (Science National Honor Society) is back!!  If you are interested in joining this club, there will be an informational meeting tomorrow, January 23rd, at lunch in room G101.  Applications will be handed out at this meeting!  If you cannot attend, please see Mrs. Jimenez in G101.  Hope to see you there!!

 

ANIME CLUB.  Come to room K-4 during lunch today and join the Anime Club.  Here we will learn about our favorite stories, learn how to draw Anime and have a terrific time!  Everyone is welcome!  See you there.

 

NATIONAL HONORS SOCIETY.  The blood drive is back!  The UCLA blood drive will be on Wednesday, February 4, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, in the auxiliary gym.  Please sign up in Mr. Cuny’s office, room C-6.  You must be 16 years old by the day of the drive to donate.  The first thirty people who donate will receive two free movie tickets.  Everyone who donates will receive one free movie ticket.  Give blood and save a life!!  Sign up in C-6 during brunch and lunch.

 

ANIME CLUB.  Come to room K-4 during lunch today and join the Anime Club.  Here we will learn about our favorite stories, learn how to draw Anime and have a terrific time!  Everyone is welcome!  See you there.
