GENERAL
CHANGING, ADDING OR DROPPING CLASSES: Students may pick up a program change form TODAY, August 14, and tomorrow, August 15. Students must pick up the green program change form in the Counseling Office during BRUNCH, LUNCH, BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL ONLY!!! Counselors will review each student’s request, approve or deny it, and then return the form to the student with the appropriate action marked. The following are the ONLY reasons for program changes: 1. Already received credit for a class that cannot be repeated for credit. 2. Placed in wrong class. 3. Adding or dropping an athletic team (note from coach required). 4. Adding a class for credit. All other reasons will be denied. DO NOT REQUEST A TEACHER CHANGE OR A BRUNCH CHANGE! Forms must be turned in by Friday, August 15. YOU MUST ATTEND CLASSES ON YOUR CURRENT SCHEDULE UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A NEW ONE.
ATTENTION: Students with Scheduling Issues
The process to request any changes to your schedule is to walk to the table outside the Counseling Office before school, during brunch, lunch or after school. and fill out a GREEN FORM. Students will have Thursday and Friday to fill out green forms for any and all changes needed to your schedule. After Friday, August 15th, there will be no more student initiated class changes. Counselors will work on green form requests as quickly as possible. Students are to attend their original scheduled classes until they receive an updated schedule delivered to class. Counselors will not be changing schedules to accommodate brunch changes, requests for specific teachers or requests for 1st period classes. If you have an open 88 in your 1st period, you are not eligible to receive a first period class. Counselors appreciate your patience during this very busy time of the year.
GIRLS GOLF: There is a meeting TODAY at lunch in room S-4 (Team Room).
CHOIR---have you always wanted to sing? Well, Canyon is just the place for you to learn. There are a few openings in Concert Choir, Mixed Chorus, and Women's Chamber Ensemble. Come by the A Lecture Hall during brunch or lunch today to talk to Mrs. Purdy. Don't miss out on the fun of being in Canyon's choirs.
If you are male and would like to join our Men's Chamber Ensemble, please see Mrs. Purdy today. Rehearsals start next Tuesday and lunch.
ROP / Career Courses – ROP classes begin on August 18th If you haven’t already done so, stop by the ROP office to pick up your pre-enrollment form for the first day of class. If you signed up for an ROP class and it is not reflected on your schedule, please see Mrs. Gaines in the ROP office.
AP STUDIO ART- Are you interested in taking your art skills to the next level. AP studio art still has seats available during 4th period. You must have successfully completed Art 1A and 1B to enroll. Interested students should see Mr. McCann in T2 during lunch or 2nd brunch.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Any girl interested in trying out for the girls’ volleyball team there is a meeting at lunch in room B-4 today and tryouts are at 3:00 Friday in the auxiliary gym
ATTENTION GIRLS SOCCER PLAYERS: Tryouts will be held next week, August 19th, 20th, and 21st. From 3:30 to 5:30 at Sierra Vista. Any player interested in playing for Canyon this year needs to attend all three days of tryouts. Scheduling conflicts need to be worked out with Coach Rusk prior to tryouts. Coach Rusk can be found in G 202 during the school day.
STAFF
CLASS CHANGES: Please do not send students to the Counseling Office for a program change during class time. The process is for them to PICK UP THE GREEN FORM during brunch or lunch, and to return the completed form to the Counseling Office during those same times. Friday, August 15, is the last day for them to submit the form. Thank you for your cooperation with this procedure.
