FREE FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP - Parents of College-bound juniors and seniors:  Please come to a FREE Financial Aid Workshop on Wednesday evening, February 8th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Library.  You will hear from a professional college planner about how to fill out the FAFSA and CAL GRANT applications.  Refreshments will be served.

REMINDER FOR ALL STUDENTS IN THE WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM: Our class will meet at lunch TODAY in Mr. Ward's room, A-3.

ATTENTION JUNIORS:  Counselors handed out pre-registration forms in the US History classes on Tuesday.  If you are not currently in a US History B class or you just didn’t get this form, please come up to the counseling office and get a pink pre-registration sheet so you can choose your classes for next year.  Fill out the form, keep it handy in your binder, and then wait for your counselor to call you up to discuss your classes.

CAREER IN ARTS WEEK:  Well it is finally here—Career In Arts week is starting this week.  We are going to have a lot of great speakers, like an Interior Designer, an architect, animator, and many more in the in the music and film industries.  Check the flyers for the schedule and get a permission slip from any Fine Arts teacher. 

THERE IS A NEW SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB ON CAMPUS: The American Sign Language Club will have its very first meeting Tuesday, February 7 in room E-4 at lunch. Future meetings will be held during lunch on Tuesdays and Fridays in room E-R. Enrollment in the club is open and everyone is welcome to join.

HEY COWBOYS:  The birth of the CANYON FILM SOCIETY is about to rock the Foundation of Bravery!! Come to E-1 every Tuesday at lunch to talk about, watch, and make films!!  Your participation is greatly responsible for the success of the future of film..

This includes the application, a copy of your semester report card, your verification of volunteer hours, and your dues. All applications are due in the library during lunch by Fri. Feb. 3rd, NO EXCEPTIONS. Remember you must reapply every semester you qualify to maintain your membership. SENIORS:  TODAY is the deadline to turn in the application for the Santa Clarita Valley Scholarship Foundation to Mrs. Goller in the counseling office.  This is your greatest chance to earn a scholarship from local groups.  The biggest scholarship is $5000!  So far, we have only received TWO applications.  Please make sure to get your application in!

The speakers we have are an animator, architect, game designer, interior designer, TV production coordinator, music software creator and set designer and we might be adding more.  The week will also feature performances and displayed art from our students. Be sure to talk to a Fine Art teacher for more details.

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS:  Are you truly a member, or do you just think you are?   Do we have the correct spelling of your name?   Please check the list we have posted on the SHH bulletin board ASAP.  If you are missing ANYTHING according to our list, you must get this resolved on Monday morning before 1st period in D-6.  If you fail to check the list and/or resolve the issue as posted, you may be dropped from Spanish Honor Society.

SENIORS

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS:

Senior Scholarship:  There is a $2500 scholarship awarded by the Canyon Country Optimist Club.  To apply you must fill out an application and write an essay on the topic, "How my Positive Outlook Benefits my Community."  The deadline is February 1st.  Please stop by the counseling office for the application.

There is a $2000 scholarship being offered by Ronald McDonald House Charities.  To apply you need 1 2.7 GPA and have at least one parent of Asian Pacific heritage.  Please stop by the counseling office for a packet.  The deadline is January 27th.

There is $5000 scholarship being offered by Ronald McDonald House Charities.  To apply you need a 2.7 GPA and have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage.  Please stop by the counseling office for a packet.  The deadline is January 27th.

There is an $800 scholarship being offered by the Santa Clarita Emblem Club.  As long as you are a senior planning to further your education you can apply for this scholarship!!!  Please pick up an application in the counseling office.  This application must be postmarked by February 15th.

Best Buy is offering scholarships of $1000 dollars.  Please apply online at www.at15.com.  The deadline is February 15th.

EVERY 15 MINUTES TODAY AND FRIDAY - Please listen carefully to your 2nd period teachers as they read the "scripts" preparing you for the Every 15 Minutes program which will occur here at Canyon this Thursday and Friday.  This program is presented at each high school in our District every 2 years.  Thursday's schedule will be a normal day, but 11th and 12th graders will attend the simulated car crash scene during period 5.   Friday's schedule will be different, including the mandatory assembly after period 3 for ALL juniors and seniors to attend.

THE LIBRARY will be closing at 3:00 TODAY.

LOST:  If you lost keys at the Rally last week come see Mrs. Ruppert in the front office.
